Business Analyst

This is a remote position.

Our Client is seeking a Business Analyst to support the redevelopment of Alberta’s K–12 provincial curriculum. This includes the transition from a print-based curriculum to a digital format and the enhancement of the LearnAlberta.ca platform. The Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders and the technical team in an agile, cloud-based software development environment to bridge business needs with technical solutions. This is a 12-month contract role with the possibility of extension, primarily remote with occasional on-site work in Edmonton, Alberta.

Responsibilities

• Provide business analysis services for LearnAlberta.ca and related applications.
  
• Elicit, gather, and document requirements from business users and subject matter experts.
  
• Analyze, validate, and improve new and existing business processes.
  
• Create user mockups, low-fidelity designs, and documentation.
  
• Write user stories and manage product backlogs in an agile environment.
  
• Facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings, and agile ceremonies (e.g., backlog refinement, sprint planning).
  
• Lead and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT).
  
• Assist in the development of business cases, technical documents, and operational rollout.
  
• Review deliverables to ensure quality and compliance with project standards.
  
• Provide training and support to stakeholders.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of business and technical goals.
  

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

·        Education & Experience (must meet one of the following):

o   University degree or 2-year diploma in computer science or a related discipline and at least 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst on software development projects.

o   OR 1-year certificate in computer science or related discipline and at least 7 years’ experience as a Business Analyst on software development projects.
